On Saturday, ALIRP hosted a successful event to celebrate our partnership with asylum seekers in Birmingham and to showcase our partners' many cultures, passions, and talents. Two of our wonderful partners, Zanaidet and Diego, demonstrated how to make one of their favorite dishes from Guadalajara, Torta Ahogada, and called willing participants to the dance floor to learn Cumbia. Several people stopped by the ALIRP information table to learn more about our work, many participated in the silent auction, and everyone enjoyed tasty food and lighthearted conversation.
We are so grateful to everyone who attended the celebration and demonstrated their support of ALIRP and the asylum-seeking community; your attendance means so much to us! A special thank you to all of the volunteers and board members, and especially Zanaidet and Diego for making this event possible. This was ALIRP’s first celebration and we are SO pleased with how it turned out. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! |
