This proposed rule would limit access to asylum and prevent people from pursuing their right to seek safety. We know that deterrence policies like this do not stop people from seeking safety, but rather forces them to seek safety through more dangerous means and prevents them from ever truly finding the safety they’re seeking. Take a stand for asylum seekers and tell the Biden Administration to withdraw this proposed rule by submitting a comment to the federal register by March 27, 2023.

The Alabama Interfaith Refugee Partnership stands in solidarity with the brave people of Ukraine, and encourages all to find ways to help provide humanitarian aid to the nearly 2 million people who have already fled for their safety.
The Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) program "provides a pathway for Ukrainian citizens and their immediate family members who are outside the United States to come to the United States and stay temporarily in a two-year period of parole. Ukrainians participating in Uniting for Ukraine must have a supporter in the United States who agrees to provide them with financial support for the duration of their stay in the United States." The Birmingham Inspiritus Refugee Resettlement agency is able to offer assistance to Ukrainians who come to Birmingham under the U4U program. Services offered include employment and early self-sufficiency, information and referral, and social adjustment. For information please contact Elizabeth.Kurtz@weinspirit.org. |
