BOOK DISCUSSION
the border within: Vietnamese migrants transforming ethnic nationalism in berlin

PicturePhoto by UAB Institute for Human Rights
The Institute for Human Rights at UAB and ALIRP sponsored a virtual book discussion on January 26, 2023.  The book is by Dr. Phi Hong Su and is titled The Border Within: Vietnamese Migrants Transforming Ethnic Nationalism in Berlin.  Dr. Su is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Williams College and will be leading the discussion. Dr. Su is interested in people on the move, the understandings and convictions they carry with them across borders, and how these transform as folks rebuild homes. Here is a link to Stanford University Press and a powerful YouTube video about the book.
