Amy Cottrill, M.Div., Ph.D., serves as the Co- Chair of the Education/Advocacy Committee of ALIRP (2022-2024). Amy is the Denson N. Franklin Professor of Religion and Chair of the Department of Religion at Birmingham-Southern College. She also coordinates and supports the Human Rights and Conflict Studies program at Birmingham-Southern. She earned her Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Emory University and her research and teaching focuses on the intersection of ethics, biblical interpretation, and the experience of violence and trauma. Additionally, Amy is interested in the history of interfaith cooperation and the ways religious communities can collaborate to create possibilities for individual and communal flourishing.
