The Alabama Interfaith Refugee Partnership (ALIRP) is a 501C3 non-profit charitable organization based in Birmingham, Alabama. The organization’s mission is to support refugees and asylum seekers locally and globally through direct assistance, education, and advocacy. We are recruiting two AmeriCorps VISTA Service Members. As an AmeriCorps VISTA member, you will enhance the capacity of the Alabama Interfaith Refugee Partnership (ALIRP) to respond to the migration crisis by helping to support refugees and asylum seekers locally and globally through education, advocacy, and direct support. You will assist the organization by collaborating with community partners, implementing key strategies for committees in the organization, and managing organizational projects. You will also work with organizational leaders to partner with other organizations serving refugees and asylum seekers in the Birmingham area and across the United States.

Specific Responsibilities Project Management: Support ALIRP to increase their capacity, including planning, logistics, data management, and communication. Potential member activities include the following:
Identify new direct support intervention opportunities for ALIRP
Assist with recruitment and engagement of ALIRP volunteers
Work with volunteer care teams for the asylum seekers and refugees supported by ALIRP
Enhance coordination and collaboration among the ALIRP committees
Assist with identifying potential funding opportunities and planning proposals and events for fundraising
Develop draft reports for funders
Assist with meeting scheduling, logistics, and follow-up to keep committees on task
Assist with compiling evaluation and project data for the organization
Help build information infrastructure accessible by all members of your community by maintaining and improving ALIRP’s online presence
Assist the Education/Advocacy Committee with planning, implementing and evaluating programs
Gather committee updates for steering committee meetings, and report back to coalition leads to keep them up to date
Community Outreach: Support efforts to engage the community in an effort to effect change. Potential member activities related to this objective include the following:
Support the ALIRP Communications Committee in strengthening the communication and information infrastructure of ALIRP (assisting with maintaining social media and website and producing monthly newsletters)
Expand outreach and collaboration with faith-based and other community organizations, including identifying new resources and partnership opportunities
Manage public service events and support efforts to institute ongoing services
Field requests and queries from community or media
Outreach and communication with partners and internal and external stakeholders
Leave: 10 personal days, 10 medical days, 10 national holidays, 5 emergency days

COVID-19 Policy ALIRP has a mandatory vaccination policy requiring COVID-19 vaccination(s) for the AmeriCorps VISTA in order to create an environment free of infection/transmission of disease and to protect our constituents, and the community from Sars-Cov-2 (COVID-19) infection.
